Uses:
Moves Qi and Tonifies Spleen and Qi. Used in cases of Stagnant Stomach or Spleen Qi causing such symptoms as epigastric or abdominal distention, lack of appetite. Dries Dampness and transforms Phlegm. Important for coughing due to Dampness with copious, viscous sputum. Directs qi downwards and alleviate nausea and vomiting. Prevents stagnation, used with tonifying herbs to counter their cloying nature.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated for dry cough from Yin or Qi deficiency. Use cautiously if the tongue is red, there is Hot Phlegm or Excess Heat coughs and in patients with haemoptosis.
