There are many styles of yoga that emphasise different aspects of its practice, and we often get asked what style we do at Sanctuary Health. The short answer, we think, is Hatha yoga. However this is a bit generic and probably doesn’t explain the focus of our classes very well. Our ‘style’ is informed by a number of principles that we think lend to a safe, intuitive and empowering practice:
- Breath as the foundation of all movement
- Connection to Centre
- Movement from the inside out
- Fluidity and openness
- Stability and connection to the earth
- Classes are built around these principles, rather than a particular sequence of postures or exercises.
