Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years and can be helpful for the symptoms associated with a wide range of health problems.

A consultation usually involves taking a thorough health history and carefully examining a patient’s main concern. Treatment can involve the use of massage, acupuncture, moxibustion, dietary and lifestyle advice, and the prescription of therapeutic exercises.

Acupuncture uses very fine sterile needles at various points on the body to promote circulation, release tight muscles and relieve pain. The needle can cause numbness, tingling or a mild aching sensation. People generally find treatment quite relaxing and it is not unusual to fall asleep during a session.

Our acupuncturist, Dan Jakes is a member of Acupuncture NZ and an ACC provider. Dan specialises in treating the symptoms of injuries, pain and pregnancy related conditions such as morning sickness, back and pelvic pain and post-natal recovery. Dan has a Masters Degree (Hons.) in Health Science, and Diploma of Acupuncture.
