Effects of acupuncture on the brain
Submitted by Dan on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 07:37Researchers at the University of York and the Hull York Medical School published in Brain Research, indicates that acupuncture has a significant effect on specific neural structures. When a patient receives acupuncture treatment, a sensation called deqi can be obtained; scientific analysis shows that this deactivates areas within the brain that are associated with the processing of pain.

Submitted by Dan on Wed, 02/03/2010 - 08:17We (mis)place a tremendous amount of trust in the producers of many everyday products like food, household cleaning products and so on. It has been my observation for quite a while that many dietary factors can influence children's behavior (just hang out with a teenager who had Coke and Twistys for breakfast for half an hour and you'll know what I mean). It hadn't crossed my mind that some very simple household products could do the same until I read a couple of articles about phthalates recently.

Our pregnancy yoga classes have been really popular - seems like there aren't enough in Christchurch and while there is certainly more and more demand, keeping classes small makes it cosy, and more importantly, safe. |
