It never ceases to make me giggle whenever I read some 'new research' that proves or disproves some old adage or 'folk lore' in relation to health. Rather than heading ancient wisdoms and observing what is happening all around us, it seems we only listen when a team of researchers spend years and millions of dollars to 'prove' a hypothesis...

Case in point; "reduced calories extends the lifespan of normal human cells" reports a team at an American University. No, really, well I'll be! (read sarcastic tone). I never would have thought it took a team of PhDs at the University of Birmingham to figure that one out when looking at the health of the population of the US.

Few things are rocket science, except well, rocket science. So why don't we observe the people, behaviors and cultures around us that appear to be happiest and healthiest and copy them. Simple.
